Our March Charity: MomsRising

Our March Charity: MomsRising

Ask any child or adult who they love the most in this world, and many of them will probably have the same answer: Mom. One look at the biggest spending holidays in the United States gives you even further proof of just how beloved and revered mothers are in this country. Mother’s Day is one of the largest retail holidays, with Americans spending over a whopping $35 billion in flowers, cards, and gifts to pay tribute to the ones who raised them. But, despite this staggering statistic, the United States is the only high-income country that does not have mandatory paid parental leave. After having a baby, many moms are faced with the impossible choice of leaving their newborn in someone else’s care or leaving the workforce entirely.

As a mom-founded brand, Kyte Baby knows firsthand that working moms make indispensable employees who can be dedicated to both their families and careers. After all, mothers are highly efficient, great at multitasking, and equipped with other valuable “mom skills” they bring to the table. We have always made it a point to employ mostly moms in an effort to prove this, but despite our best intentions, recent events made us realize that there was still room for improvement within our own company. As Kyte Baby continues to grow, so should our policies. In February, we completely reformed our parental leave policy to be more expansive and give our employees the support they need during the most important time in their lives. We are grateful for the opportunity to constantly learn and improve, and we are continuing to look for ways to grow and support women. Today, on International Women’s Day (March 8), we are so proud to name MomsRising as our March charity.

Established in 2006, MomsRising is an on-the-ground and online grassroots organization working to achieve economic security for all moms, women, and families in the United States. The MomsRising movement is made up of two separate organizations: MomsRising Together, a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization, and MomsRising Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity. Joined by over a million people whose goals align, MomsRising works for paid family leave, earned sick days, affordable childcare, an end to the wage and hiring discrimination faced by working mothers, better childhood nutrition, healthcare for all, toxic-free environments, breastfeeding rights, and a national budget that reflects the contributions of women and moms.

MomsRising tackles the most critical issues facing women, mothers, and families by educating the public and mobilizing grassroots action. In 2023, the organization’s members averaged over 2,300 on-the-ground and online actions per day, achieving national, state, and local legislative and other policy triumphs. With MomsRising’s Executive Director by his side, President Biden signed a historic Care Executive Order in April 2023 to expand access to affordable, high-quality care, and provide support for care workers and family caregivers. This win came after months of advocacy by MomsRising to inspire action and is proof that there is power in numbers and that every single voice has an impact. In honor of International Women’s Day, Kyte Baby is making a $5,000 donation to support MomsRising’s work in amplifying women’s voices and policy issues in the national dialogue to build a nation in which both businesses and families can thrive.

If you would like to stand with MomsRising in making the world a better place for every mom and family, you can join the movement and/or make a financial contribution.
