Every year, around 3.6 million babies are born in the United States. Of those 3.6 million, nearly 10% are admitted to a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) after birth. A NICU is a specialized hospital department with advanced technology and trained healthcare professionals who are well-equipped to give specialized care to these tiniest and most vulnerable patients.
Through our Nominate-a-NICU initiative, our Kyte community is able to share their personal stories and NICU experiences, as well as nominate a NICU near and dear to them to receive a donation from Kyte Baby. This initiative has allowed us to donate to different NICUs all around the country in support of the lifesaving care they have provided to our own community members. This August, we are proud to name Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies as our NICU of the month.

NICU Development Clinic
Babies who need NICU care are at a higher risk to experience developmental and/or growth delays. At Orlando Health Winnie Palmer, the care and relationships don't end once babies leave the NICU. Orlando Health's NICU Development Clinic helps safeguard its patients' development by keeping them on track for a healthy and happy childhood.
Its experienced transport team works year-round and is on call 24/7. The Mobile NICU offers coast-to-coast coverage to nine Central Florida counties within a 75-mile radius of Orlando Health Winnie Palmer. During visits, a nurse practitioner and a team of therapists assess their patient's growth and overall development, observing motor skills, speech and language skills, and cognitive skills.
