Bundled & Blessed Event Recap

As a brand founded by a mom and run by parents, we know that parenthood is a journey full of bumps and curves along the way. In honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, we wanted to find a meaningful way to celebrate and support other moms. In addition to our $5,000 donation to Anchor Point, a non-profit organization serving families throughout Texas, we also teamed up with Trend Management to throw a benefit baby shower in Houston, Texas for five special moms in need of extra love and support. Trend influencers Dede Raad (@dressupbuttercup), Lauren Sims (@laurenkaysims), Nita Mann (@nextwithnita), Jessica Crum (@jesshogancrum), and Reagan Bregman (@reaganelizabeth) each chose a guest of honor from a list of nominees, and brought them to Bundled & Blessed. With the help of 38 other brands, we were able to shower these nominated moms with everything they need for themselves and their babies. We were so touched by these moms’ strength and resilience in the face of adversity, and want to share their stories with you. Here are the five incredible women who were showered at Bundled & Blessed:

Jana Bowman
Jana is a former Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) charge nurse who is currently in school to become a nurse practitioner. Despite lifelong endometriosis and two devastating miscarriages, with the last being severe enough to require hospitalization, Jana is defying all odds with her pregnancy. At the beginning of 2023, she started a miscarriage support group that over 30 women in her community have attended. As an active member of her church and someone who goes above and beyond to support anyone in need, Jana has since become a pillar of strength and love for her community.

Farah Akhtar
Farah and her husband struggled to have their first child, going through IVF treatment during the height of the COVID pandemic to conceive their now 2-year-old son. Although they initially decided against having more children because of the extreme stress, they realized how much they wanted to grow their family and give their son a sibling. After a second round of IVF, they suffered a devastating miscarriage that took a heavy physical and emotional toll. Today, Farah is pregnant with their rainbow baby girl. Although her pregnancy had a rough start with a hemorrhage that left her nearly bedridden, Farah and her husband are beyond excited to meet their sweet daughter.

Tori Jarrel
In July 2021, Tori was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She and her now-husband were just beginning to plan their wedding and had just moved to Texas due to his position in the military. The moment she received her diagnosis, she worried about how chemotherapy would affect her fertility. With all this worry weighing on their hearts, Tori and her husband decided to use the money they had saved for their wedding to pay for IVF before she began treatment for her cancer. The IVF was not successful. Devastated and uncertain about her future as a mom, she finished her chemotherapy and eventually received the amazing news that she was in remission. Although cancer survivors are generally advised to wait two years post-treatment before getting pregnant, Tori was cleared by her oncologist to begin trying for a baby. A year later today, Tori is still in remission and pregnant with their first baby—a girl!

Ana Paula Funes-Baker
Ana and her husband have been together for 10 years and married for nearly 6 of those years. For 3 years, they tried to grow their family, and found themselves constantly waiting on test results. In the midst of their struggle, Ana lost her grandmother and her husband lost his father. As they worked through their grief last year, they were able to find distraction in IVF, which was successful! In February, they had a small getaway with friends to New Orleans, but a speeding car lost control and jumped the curb on which they were standing. In a heroic move to save his wife and unborn baby, Ana’s husband pushed them out of harm’s way and took the brunt of the impact. He was struck head-on, thrown 65 feet, and suffered tremendous injuries—but miraculously survived. As they deal with the aftermath and recovery of his broken hand, torn shoulders/elbow, and disc/hip injuries, they remain grateful to have each other as they await the birth of their baby. 

Jill Harris
Jill’s pregnancy journey was much more brief and difficult than most. Due to a blood clotting disorder, she had to see a high-risk doctor throughout her pregnancy. When she was 23 weeks pregnant, Jill’s doctor informed her that she needed to immediately go to the hospital and be treated for her severe preeclampsia to save both her life and her baby’s. Her son, Maverick, was born at 24 weeks via emergency C-section and weighed only 1 lb and 1 oz. He was diagnosed with severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) at birth, and was transferred to Texas Children’s Hospital two months later to receive the continuous care he needed. In January, 6 months old after birth, Maverick received a tracheostomy to allow him to breathe via a ventilator. Today, he is 8 months old, weighs 15 lbs, and is a happy baby despite still being in the hospital until he can be transferred to a home ventilator and finally come home.

After all the challenges they faced in their journey to become parents, our goal was to make them feel loved, supported, and pampered. In support of the valuable work that Anchor Point does for mothers and families throughout Texas, other monetary and physical donations from Bundled & Blessed were given to Hope House, Anchor Point’s residential and transformational home for young mothers in need of a safe and supportive environment. Being able to co-host this event with Trend Management to benefit so many moms was a true celebration of women and an incredible way to close out the month of March.
