Every month, Kyte Baby donates to a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) nominated by our community. Through our Nominate-a-NICU page, community members are able to share their NICU stories and nominate a hospital of their choice to become our NICU of the month. Our donations go toward essential services and equipment in NICUs, as well as supporting the overall care and well-being of critically ill newborns and their families. This August, we have chosen to support the lifesaving work of EveryMom Chicago, a small nonprofit organization with tremendous reach in Chicago, IL.
What They Do
EveryMom Chicago partners with local nonprofit organizations and hospitals to distribute essential newborn, postpartum, and nursing supplies to underserved communities. Each kit contains practical supplies, as well as a local resource guide, which connects these families with other free resources across Chicago.
The organization is grounded in the belief that every mom, regardless of circumstance, deserves to feel prepared, supported, and celebrated.
The New-Baby Kit
In order to best support parents, EveryMom Chicago produces three types of kits: Newborn, Postpartum, and Breastfeeding. These kits combine material supplies with information about community resources to promote medical health, emotional and psychological development, and maternal and child health.
-
The Newborn Kit includes a selection of seasonally appropriate baby clothes (size newborn to 6 months), a sleep sack, burp cloths, baby toiletries, thermometer, board book, infant tub, towel, and more.
-
The Postpartum Kit includes supplies to help moms following birth, such as thick maxi pads, perineal cold packs, disposable underwear, and toiletries.
-
The Breastfeeding Kit includes supplies to aid the nursing journey, including nursing pads, breast milk storage bags, lanolin, and hydrogel cooling pads.
How Kits Are Distributed
EveryMom Chicago partners with local hospitals, community health care centers, and nonprofit organizations to distribute kits to those who need it most, including victims of domestic abuse and refugees.

Words From the Kyte Community
“EveryMom provides essential newborn, postpartum, and breastfeeding supply kits to families navigating poverty, housing instability, and other difficult circumstances. We partner with a wide network of hospitals (including NICUs), federally qualified health centers, refugee resettlement agencies, domestic violence shelters, and homeless service providers to get these kits directly into the hands of new parents. Each one is thoughtfully designed to support early bonding, recovery, and health during the fragile first days of parenting. At our core, we believe that every mom, no matter her situation, deserves to feel prepared, supported, and truly celebrated.”
-Zina N.
I have been on the board of EveryMom Chicago for 2 years now. I was inspired to join by my own experience as a mom to newborn twins—one who had a NICU stay. I was touched by the incredible support of my community, as well as strangers who volunteered and gifted meaningful tokens of love and connection to me and my daughters. Early motherhood is challenging and transformative. Community and support is essential, and I wanted to pay it forward.”
-Hayley Y.W.
“I am a social worker who works with pregnant women/new parents who are recovering from addiction. I am an extremely grateful and proud community partner (and now board member!) of EveryMom Chicago. This organization provides essential newborn, postpartum, and breastfeeding supply kits to new families in Chicago with limited access to resources. Every mom, regardless of circumstance, deserves to feel prepared, celebrated, and supported.”
