Easter Sunday is upon us! This weekend, you’re sure to see little girls in fluffy Easter dresses next to their moms wearing bunny ears. Egg hunts are on the calendar, you’re buying themed candy and searching the cabinets for your wicker baskets. The tradition at home is to dye hard boiled eggs with your kids. Here at Kyte BABY, we love the all-natural way, so we went looking for the best approach to dyeing your eggs with organic ingredients.
We found it at Blueberries you put them on your oatmeal and in your Sunday pancakes. Now you can use them to dye your children’s Easter eggs! Chances are, you’ll already have them in your kitchen. Here’s how to do it:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups blueberries, crushed
- 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
- Hard-boiled eggs
Method:
Add your crushed blueberries to a small pot with 2 cups water and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, strain and discard solid blueberry chunks. Stir in your vinegar, let cool.
Pour mixture into bowls, one for each of you! Submerge hard boiled eggs in the blue dye, turning often for even coating. Remove egg with tongs and put in an egg carton to dry. Voila!
You can dye your eggs naturally with all kinds of other ingredients including beets, spinach, various teas and coffee! Give them a try for a beautiful variety of colors.
